OUR PRACTICE
About Biokinetics
A specialist physiotherapy practice built around one idea - that most "complex" cases aren't complex. They've just been incompletely assessed.

HOW WE STARTED
A practice built for the cases that didn't fit.
Biokinetics was founded by Vincent Fu after years of seeing the same pattern across hospitals, sports clinics, and private practice - patients who'd been through six, twelve, sometimes twenty sessions of physiotherapy and still didn't have a clear explanation for their pain. They had exercises. They had hands-on treatment. What they didn't have was a diagnosis of the mechanism that was driving the problem.
Most of those patients didn't need more exercises. They needed a different question asked. Where is the load actually going? Which segment isn't doing its job? Which structure has become sensitised - and why? The answers were usually findable, but only with a longer assessment and a willingness to look beyond the painful tissue.
Biokinetics was built around that approach. The clinic now works alongside Brain & Spine Surgery and collaborates with neurosurgical and orthopaedic specialists across Sydney, with five locations spanning the Hills district, the Inner West, the Macarthur corridor, the North Shore, and the Southern Highlands. The model is the same at every clinic - long first sessions, mechanism-based assessment, staged rehab, and strength built into the plan from the first session a patient is ready for it.
OUR PRINCIPLES
Five principles that shape every plan.
1. Assessment is the treatment.
A long, careful first session changes outcomes more than any technique. We take 60-90 minutes for new patients because the diagnosis is the lever - everything else follows from it.
2. Pain has a driver.
"You'll have to live with it" is rarely the right answer. Persistent pain usually has a mechanical, neural, or load-related driver. We find it, name it, and build the plan around it.
3. Strength is rehab.
We don't treat strength as something you do after rehab. Loading is integrated from the first session you're ready for it. You leave with capacity, not just symptom relief.
4. Discharge is the goal.
We're not building a subscription. A successful course of care ends with you no longer needing us. We tell you what that looks like at the start.
5. We say when it isn't us.
If your case needs imaging, surgical opinion, pain medicine, or a different specialty first, we say so. Our scope is defined - and being honest about it is part of the care.
SENIOR CLINICIANS
Three senior clinicians.
One standard of care.

Vincent Fu - Founder & Consultant Physiotherapist.
Vincent leads the practice and consults out of Brain & Spine Surgery. His clinical focus is complex spinal pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, and the integration of strength training into return-to-load. He founded Biokinetics to create a standard of care for cases that don't respond to generic rehabilitation.

Prashant Jhala — Consultant Physiotherapist.
Prashant is an educator and clinician in spinal, neurological, and complex musculoskeletal rehabilitation. He brings a strong teaching background to clinical reasoning and is one of the practitioners patients most often see for hypermobility, neurological presentations, and intricate spinal cases.

Shankar Aiyer — Senior Physiotherapist.
Shankar focuses on complex case assessment and movement rehabilitation, with particular interest in the interplay between strength, motor control, and load tolerance.
STANDARDS & SCOPE
What you can expect - and what we don't do.
What we commit to.
-
AHPRA-registered physiotherapists at every appointment.
-
Evidence-informed practice. Where evidence is limited, we say so.
-
Clear communication with your GP, surgeon, or other specialists when relevant - with your consent.
-
Plain-English explanation of your diagnosis and plan, in writing if you'd like one.
-
A staged rehabilitation plan with defined goals and discharge criteria.
What we don't do.
- We don't make guarantees about clinical outcomes - no honest clinician can.
-
We don't treat outside our scope. Conditions requiring medical imaging, surgical opinion, or pain medicine are referred appropriately.
-
We don't sell open-ended subscription rehab. Your plan has an endpoint.
-
We don't publish patient testimonials about clinical care, in line with AHPRA's advertising guidelines.
IS THIS A FIT?
Who this practice helps best.
Biokinetics is not the right clinic for every problem, and we don't want to be. We're built for spinal complexity, persistent and post-surgical cases, hypermobility-spectrum presentations, and people whose previous rehab hasn't held. If that's you, the next step is either a phone call or a booking at the nearest clinic.
