SACROILIAC JOINT DYSFUNCTION
& FUNCTIONAL STABILITY REHABILITATION

WR9YQDgA_edited.jpg

SIJ dysfunction and instability can be life-limiting - affecting walking, standing, turning in bed, stairs, lifting, and pregnancy/postpartum recovery. It is often treated as a local joint problem with generic “core exercises,” yet the SIJ is a load-transfer system influenced by the hips, lumbar spine, gait mechanics, and nervous system strategies.

This service exists to restore functional pelvic stability using biomechanics, load-transfer control, and progressive integration into real life.

Who this service is for:

  • Suspected or confirmed SIJ dysfunction/instability

  • Hypermobility/EDS-related pelvic instability

  • Pregnancy/postpartum pelvic pain and instability

  • Persistent buttock/low back/pelvic pain not responding to standard care

  • Post-lumbar surgery patients with pelvic load intolerance

What makes this different:

  • Force-closure and load-transfer strategies, not generic core work

  • Focus on why the pelvis is failing under load (walking, single-leg tasks, rotation)

  • Integration of feet/hips/lumbar spine mechanics

  • Progression based on functional tasks, not isolated exercises

  • Clear plan to reduce recurrence and build long-term resilience

What to expect:

  • Load-transfer testing (how you handle asymmetrical load)

  • Gait and single-leg function assessment

  • Hip strength/control assessment (glute function and compensations)

  • Lumbo-pelvic coordination analysis

  • Staged program: stabilise → load → integrate into life tasks

  • Clear activity modification and pacing plan during flare periods

Functional outcomes:

  • Reduced pelvic pain and instability episodes

  • Improved walking, standing, stairs, and lifting tolerance

  • Increased confidence with movement and daily tasks

  • Reduced flare cycles and recurrence risk

  • Clear roadmap for pregnancy/postpartum demands where relevant

How this integrates with specialist care:

  • Coordination with GP, women’s health providers, imaging providers when needed

  • If symptoms overlap with spinal pathology: alignment with neurosurgeon or specialist opinions

  • Integration supports safe decision-making and avoids conflicting guidance

Who leads your care:

Led by Vincent Fu, with co-management pathways when needed (women’s health, medical specialists, strength integration, psychology for persistent pain patterns).

Our philosophy:

SIJ problems improve when we restore load transfer, not just “core strength.” The goal is durable pelvic function in the real world - walking, parenting, work, training, and life.
